Favorite trip
Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?
Yukon River Camp in Alaska. I met all kinds of people up that way. Forest ranger, truckers, cyclists… so few people and so much country. No cell service, limited internet (I didn’t pay) and fuel, and so much untouched by humanity.
It’s above the arctic circle and the only road there–the Dalton Highway–is mostly unpaved. They dump dirt on it for traction, and it’s like driving through a bumpy construction site the entire way from Fairbanks. Most rental cars are banned.
If you were lost and needed help, you likely would get help from a trucker on their way to or from the top of the state. It would be advisable to have a satellite phone or CB radio, however.
Wild animals
Do you ever see wild animals?
I see deer, squirrels, groundhogs, beavers, mallards, geese, black bears, foxes, and chipmunks in Pennsylvania.
Out in Montana, I’ve seen bison, mountain goats, and grizzlies. In Alaska, I’ve seen muskoxen and moose.

I’ve been places and met people and lived a lot of life… but this is my home and I like it enough to enjoy what it has to offer.
I didn’t truly appreciate it when I left the first time, but I will if I leave again. I hope to next year. We’ll see though.
